As the title suggests this course is designed for students moving from GCSE to A or AS Level Mathematics. You’ve probably already been told that the challenge at this level is much greater and requires consistent effort and commitment throughout the whole two years to achieve a decent grade. This is indeed true and nothing should be taken for granted, even if you are expecting a good grade at GCSE. So this course is ideal preparation over the summer, for keeping knowledge and skills sharp and fresh, for improving in some areas where you are less confident, for increasing the challenge level of the questions and for introducing some new ideas which you will encounter when you start your AS or A Level.

- Indices and Surds – positive, negative & fractional indices, simplifying surds, expanding with surds, rationalising fractions
- Algebra Advanced – Algebraic fractions, more complex equations and manipulations, introduction to binomial expansions
- Graphs – types, general features, functions, domain and range, transformations
- Quadratics – equations, graphs, completing the square, inequalities, discriminant
- Calculus – rules for differentiation, applications
- Coordinate Geometry – straight lines, circles, tangent and normal
- Trigonometry – Sine and Cosine Rules, Area of Triangle, recap SOHCAHTOA, trig graphs and transformations
- Mechanics – kinematics (and application of differentiation), constant acceleration formulae, vector applications
- Statistics – histograms, cumulative frequency, box plots, standard deviation, combining probabilities
